Who are you as an eater?

Lisa             September is my Birthday month. And like everyone I take pause to reflect on what I have done, where I have been, and where I am going. If you have been following me for any length of time now, you understand that I have overcome a lot. I had a life changing event happen a few years back that allowed me the opportunity to go down deep, deep into myself and ask a lot of questions, and come up with even more answers. The life changing event that happened for me forced me into changing my whole life – from career, to friendships, to how I care for myself, to what I believe in, and how I want to live my life. I created a whole new lifestyle dynamic for myself. I healed emotionally and I am stronger than ever.

With all of this I have dedicated my focus to helping others (that’s YOU!) find their truth. Truth is a way of life. It’s deciphering who you are, and why. It’s getting to the nitty gritty of your soul purpose. Living in truth ideally reduces poor decisions, bad situations, and emotional hurt.

And just how is this connected to food? The way you live in life – directly mirrors how you manage your own personal relationship with food. The reason people are unhappy with their weight or body image, is because they are unhappy in life in some way. That “way” is different for everyone – Everyone has their own story. For some, perhaps pain was experienced and never properly dealt with (shifting the way their body expresses itself). Someone else may not be able to fulfill their deepest desires because they feel stuck somewhere in life (stuck in unhappy & unwanted habits). Yet others may be holding something back (and holding onto weight) – out of fear or confusion. Not living your souls truth directly dictates the domino affect of all of your emotions, reactions, and actions that follow – in the next moment, the day, the experience … and on until you properly address your beliefs and perceptions around your STORY.

As a Lifestyle Coach with a Focus on Nutrition – I guide you on your journey to fulfilling your desires and achieving your goals by mapping your dynamic, your relationships, and your beliefs – and addressing (perhaps even changing) your perceptions and bringing value to your Life. More importantly (and what I want you to remember the most) I help you learn to manage your emotions as you continue to practice your life.

Yup, you read that correctly – I said practice your life. Practicing your habits and managing your emotions – in life and in food – brings balance and success to your truth.

This may sound confusing – or hopefully, instead, it piqued your curiosity. Curiosity is a good thing. And I want you to have support along the way. To learn more, keep reading and following me – because I want to do for you what I have done for myself.

Making sure your kids eat enough throughout the day can be tough. Healthy choices and proper management while keeping everyone happy can be a challenge at times, especially if one or more of the children or family members has a disability, medical condition, or food allergy. Septembers Workshop is geared toward healthy food options, food preparation, getting the children involved, and how to talk to your kids about food relationships. Each family is a unique dynamic, and customizable strategies will sustain your nutritional needs throughout the school year and beyond.

I expect everyone’s summer has been everything you wished it to be, hopefully more.

I’ve been a bit quiet here, not because of anything that was negative. I’ve just had a lot going on – good stuff – that I dove into. And I promise you I thought of you often. I have been busy working on a few projects that are going to make me a better coach, all of which are exciting and motivating. I am working very hard for my future, and that means I am working very hard for your future. But I am not quite ready to make my public announcements – some things you’ll just have to wait and learn with the rest of ’em.

I also took some time for myself this summer and practiced self-care. I relaxed a bit, and had some beautiful and lazy days – not guilting myself or pushing myself to keep a strict schedule. I exercised outside instead of indoors (unless it was 100 degrees!) I made some new friends. I learned new recipes, and did a few of my favorite things. I took a few classes, and I volunteered at some events.

I re-connected with a group of people that I haven’t seen in probably 20 years. At first I was shy, and stood on the side and observed. I was the one who had gone off from the group. I had to figure out if anyone was upset with me, and I had to figure out what had changed (not much did!). I enjoyed how each person grew, and also how the group dynamic grew and strengthened. I had to figure out if I still fit in. I felt shame, guilt, fear, and even disconnected. But thankfully all of those feelings went away quickly. No one judged me for anything I did, I came to cherish the life I created and lived without them because that was what I was meant to do, and my feelings all seem silly now because these were my closest friends that I grew up with, and when they saw me – they only expressed love for me and joy to be with me. I have been hanging out with them a lot. It feels to good to remember your roots, and then KNOW that they are good roots. I feel lucky to have had this experience, and I will do whatever it takes to make sure these friendships stay strong.

So suffice it to say as summer is wrapping up I am feeling like life is good – Very Good. I found a nice balance that makes me happy – balance that I plan to nurture. And I am confident that all the changes I am planning for are going to be Amazing. This is where you should cheer and get excited because that means you get to reap the benefits – I can’t wait to share my gifts with you all.

Thank You for your continued support, and I look forward to growing with you. ~Lisa
